Pwnage 2.0 Released - 3G/2.0 is Jailbroke!

OK, so I have figured out that if I use expert mode (cause I don't want the pineapple logo) it doesn't ask if I am a legit AT&T customer and when my phone comes on, I have no service. SO now that I used simple mode, my service is there, but how do I get rid of the pineapple boot logo?

Use the Expert Mode and un-check the pineapple logo AND...

If you are legit AT&T cust:

un-check: General Settings->Activate the phone
un-check: BootNeuter Settings->Unlock Baseband

If you are not a legit AT&T cust do the exact opposite.

I just upgraded and tried the pwnage tool and i get this error.

"NO BOOTLOADER V3.9 FILE FOUND!"
"WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEARCH THE WEB"?

now i downloaded V3.9 but what do I do with it?

OK so I pwned my phone using winpwn and now when I try to restore it with the custom fw using itunes i get "Unknown Error 1403"

In some cases, you might hit this error. Even though you selected the right file, with the right extension, this error shows up unexpectedly.

Solution? Download the firmware again. But before you do that, make sure you clear your internet explorer cache (or firefox cache) then download the firmware again. Make sure you select the right one for the right device.

To find out if you are having the uncorrupted file, do this:

Step 1: Copy that _Restore.ipsw file into another file (you can simple copy and paste, it’s probably comes out as a “copy of…” file)

Step 2: Change the extension of that into a *.zip file. Simply rename the *.ipsw into *.zip

Step 3: Try unzipping it (as how you usually unzip files). If it unzips successfully, it’s not a corrupted file.

Your internet service provider (ISP)


If you look in ur sig it tells you your ip add and also your ISP.

The signature says YOUR IP and ISP not HIS. Its a script that is supposed to scare you into thinking that that person has YOUR info but here it clearly didn't work.

Go back to PwnageTool. It should ask you to tell it where it is (Browse for the file dialog box).

Pwnage Tool 2.0 is officially released by the Dev Team.

The tool jailbreaks and unlocks any 1st gen iPhones running the 2.0 firmware, and jailbreaks any 3G iPhone/iPod Touch running the 2.0 firmware. It does NOT support older versions of the iPhone/iPod Touch firmware.

This release DOESN'T UNLOCK 3G iPHONES YET, but they say they're working on that.

Edit: As stated in previous News posts, Installer is NOT ready for 2.0 yet, but Cydia is included in the Pwnage Tool jailbreak, and is supported with all of ModMyI's packages from Installer, as well as Bigboss, Zodttd, and many if not most of Ste's packages. Its a more solid and well supported package manager than Installer - don't worry, you can still get most of your jailbroken apps once they're converted to 2.0 compatible by their respective devs.

Lemme ask this....i am download the custom firmware via bittorrent...do i simply just run itunes..and use this firmware by shift+enter (however you do it), and it will work...mind you i have a 1.1.4 ziphone unlock and jailbroken iphone. Any insight as to how to use the custom firmware with windows would be great.

For anyone else that keeps getting a message of I haz fail! everytime you try to build a package, no matter if you use simple or expert, I think I found the problem. Initially I took the PwnageTool and dropped it into the Application folder. After numerous attempts I decided to delete it off the Applications folder. Then just used it right off the desktop, and finally it was able to build the package, not sure why it wont work in the Applications folder.

follow the guide provided - follow it to the letter - very important

do a software update using iTunes coz u will get the latest stuff !!!!

about getting to the DFU mode ( u will know when u come to it) - it need timing - so dont give up i got mine done only in 7th attempt but it works and it works fine at that!!!!
