finished download, updating my firmware now via iTune
1.my iPhone was unlocked via iLiberty+ with BL3.9
2.download winpwn, load 1.1.4 ipsw, click on ipwner, it pwn the iphone
3.put the iphone in RECOVERY MODE using iLiberty+ "Enter Recovery Mode"
4.close itune and relaunch, itune detects iphone in recovery mode, shift+click to the custom 2.0 firmware
5.iTune is restoring firmware
6.restore successful (no error)
7.Got "flashing bootloader" in (BootNeuter 2.0)
8.Flashing baseband now.... done
9.reboot once more... I am in 2.0!!!!!!
so I think this firmware should work even there is no winpwn for windows users

The 1600 error persists even after removing the file 'x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw' from ~/Library/iTunes/Device support. Reran the pwnage tool, generated a new ipsw custom file, and put the iphone into DFU but still get error 1600 after the custom ipsw extracts.

You would have to open Itunes with your Iphone in restore mode or DFU, then Itunes will detect the phone in this mode and ask you to restore if you hold the shift key (on windows) this will allow you to choose the location of the custom firmware that you want to restore. Click on the location of the firmware downloaded from Cosmo and hit restore this is the routine that i take when restoring to a 1.1.4 firmware. so id say that it's gonna be pretty much the same, ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT TRYED THIS YET. If any one gets it done first please let us all know how is goes.

windows release anytime soon?
07-19-2008, 09:24 PM #274
Yeah, after looking at the tutorials, it really seems like all you need is the custom firmware.
You then use whatever method you choose to get the phone into DFU mode, connect to iTunes (windows or mac), and then restore the custom firmware. Please correct me if you think I'm wrong here...
@cosmoLV - you da man if you can get a 3G custom firmware up tonight!

I tried to upload the custom IPSW during restore but there was an error "6". What did I do wrong, and what can I do to fix it.

Mine upgraded perfectly. I'd never upgraded firmwares before (I bought my iphone already unlock on 1.1.3) and i got it to work first time.
-Restore to 2.0 in iTunes.
-Run Pwnage 2.0 and follow all the prompts (Read them carefully)
-Follow instructions to enter DFU mode. This took me a few goes to get right, so be patient with this step.
-Open itunes and hold the option key and click restore, choose your custom firmware and let it do its thing.
