At&T activation servers go down
Well it was bound to happen, many stores, both AT&T and Apple, are experencing extremely slow or no activations at all. Reports from Engadet are saying the stores are sending the people home with their new phones so they can activate it from there....which i find very interesting.
If you look at the screens, you can see the one crashed lol10:32AM ET: Indeed, depending on what employee you talk to, in-store activation via iTunes is either "slow" or "down" -- but either way, they're handing you the phone unactivated, which needs to be completed by connecting to iTunes from the comfort of your home. Beware: if you're upgrading, your old SIM will be immediately bricked, so you'll be phoneless until you complete the activation!

EDIT
One of our own members, who happens to work for AT&T just sen tus this info:
So there you have an official confirmation, thanks to our member sol2345I work for AT&T. The reason iTunes is running slow is due to the amount of users accessing at once. Apple is suppose to be working on fixing the issue. I know this because my POS system from AT&T is displaying this as a global message.Last edited by .:MirrorminD:.; 07-11-2008 at 10:14 AM.

rofl im so mad xD.
I had 2.0 yesterday. This morning I woke up because I wanted to sync some songs. All of a sudden, my iphone restarts, then a USB icon appears on it. Then itunes all of a sudden is telling me to restore, even though i had 2.0 already. I do so, and now its stuck at
Acessing Itunes Store.
Shouldn't have synced my phone this morning :P

iphone should have been activated at home anyway.
if anything they should've just made you do the actual contract and what not in the store.

exactly what they did with me this morning in the uk o2 store.
i didnt open my box until i got home. but contract had to be sorted in store.
at&t sending customers home with their phones means nothing. you still wont be able to leave with an iphone without signing a contract. nothings changed. The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

It's not just in-store activation it's people updating their current phones.

I read through some old apple blogs. Some one suggested running the flush DNS command. It worked for me. At the command line type ipconfig /flushdns
