This just shows that Apple really dropped the ball on this. If SJ was smart he would've dumped AT&T and opened it up to T-mobile as well and double his cash, but oh well, us folks on T-mobile can have it anyway. THANKS DEV TEAM!!!!!!

didnt we already know we could jailbreak it with pwnage? does this now mean we can actually USE these unsigned apps (Installer, iSolitaire, NES, etc.) along with the AppStore apps?

Only once the jailbreak applications are updated to run on firmware 2.0. I don't think that is trivial yet.
Like the last major firmware change (when root became mobile) there will be lots of confusion as you won't be able to tell which apps work with 2.0 and which don't unless the new Installer and Cydia are updated to handle this a lot better.

Yeah, this should be written in big bold letters somewhere:
Just because the phone is jailbroken/unlocked doesn't mean all your apps will run as well. The framework of the OS changed considerably with this update, most apps will need to be updated before they run well if at all. Please be patient and read threads regarding the whole 2.0 JB and apps before asking silly questions.

The main thing i wont be able to live without is customize/summerboard. Thankfully spicy chicken is working on it to be compatible on 2.0 so i will most likely make the jump once its available. from his site:
Customize and Firmware 2.0
As we all know, the much anticipated 3G iPhone is coming out on Friday, along with Firmware 2.0 and AppStore. There is good news and bad news.
Bad News
I have attempted to contact Apple, however, they will not allow Customize to be distributed through the AppStore.
Good News
Customize 2.0 will still be available through Installer and Cydia package managers, and will run on firmware 2.0 (I am working on making it compatible now).
More Good News
It will still be possible to jailbreak your phone after an upgrade to firmware 2.0. You will be able to use apps from both the AppStore and from Installer/Cydia. This should also apply to 3G Phones. As I find out more, I will post instructions on how to do this.
Best, Spicy

Awesome! Jesus is the man, he hooked me up nicely when I did the Nintendo DS2 prototype renders for their site. Oh and the devs rule too.
