Wait, what happens if I restore my iPod Touch to his firmware? When you hold down shift and click restore is says for the file its looking for "iPod/iPhone Software files". Would the restore just not work, or would it damage my iPod Touch.

Don't open the folder.
The file downloaded is not a dmg file but a ZIP that is unzipping automatically.
Find your original download (before it unzipped) that should be in your trash bin, and change the .zip to .ipsw so the file looks like this:
iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw
Restore with iTunes 7.7.
Only do so if you are a legit AT&T iPhone customer...

Why is this taking more than 7 minutes?

Ok so if you are downloading the file from Safari, than you need to.
1. Right Click the link
2. Select Download linked file (that way it won't automatically unzip it)
3. Once you have the file, simple erase '.zip' from the end of the file.
4. Option + Check for update, in Itunes.
5. Select the file and you are good.
Hope this helps.

Just download it with a browser that doesn't automatically extract the file. Firefox for example.

It's amazing people are wanting to jailbreak/unlock their phones but can't figure out simple file property skills. The file you download "iPhone12C2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw" is already a IPSW file....
