you need the newest version of itunes 7.7 you need the file i posted in the first post. Than on a mac just open itunes and hold the option key i believe then click restore. Itll ask you for a file just point to the one you just downloaded. No need to wipe your phone previously, but do back up your contacts first

I don't recall ever having an issue updating though. Regardless of the state it was in... So, basically, we have no way of enjoying a jailbroken/unlocked 2.0? Damn. I'm getting the 3G tomorrow and I'm giving my iPhone Classic to my wife but she's on T-Mobile.. but I also want her to have the 2.0 firmware so she can get some games on it too.. Damn Damn Damn.

ya, I waiting on ifone dec team to figure it out and a wiki posted on here or something from one of the admins before I update, I still have a bitter aftertaste after the 1.0.x to 1.1.x update

Here's where having 2 iPhone's comes in handy! Lucky for me I dropped one of them and cracked the top part of the protective screen, and used "shards of broken glass slicing my fingers" as an excuse to buy a new one..... Now I need a new excuse to buy the 3G tomorrow...
Always nice to have a backup broken phone for testing though. ^.^

Download iTunes 7.7 from your Apple Updater.
Get 2.0 5a347 from the link provided.
Option + Check for Update => Install
Restore your backed-up settings.

If you are not a legit AT&T iPhone customer (Jailbroken, Unlocked, and Activated by other means), don't upgrade yet!

Okay I made the mistake of updating yesterday and had trouble going back, but I'll tell you all how to do it so you don't make the same mistake I did.

2.0 DOWNGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

If you update to 2.0 on iTunes 7.7, you need to uninstall itunes and reinstall a version earlier than 7.6.2. You MUST be in DFU mode to restore to 1.1.4, recovery mode WILL NOT work. You should be given error 1015. Kick the phone out of DFU with ziphone or iliberty and you'll be back on 1.1.4. If you want, you can use iEraser and restore again, so you are back on the 1.1.4 baseband.

I used this method on beta 8 5a345 and the same method should apply to the golden 2.0

I love how some excited idiots post "i upgraded on 2.0, everything is working 100%, blah blah blah". YOU NEED TO REALIZE YOU GAVE THE IMPRESSION YOU WERE ON AN UNLOCKED iPHONE!!! Of course you can update to 2.0 if you are on AT&T.

According to BigBoss DFU mode brings you to error 1600 and restore gives you error 20. Also iTunes under 7.7 won't recognise iPhone as a Phone.

Do not upgrade yet.

I've been running 7.7d31 since it came out and it is not an issue with iTunes.
I'm still running 5a345 (beta 8) with apps and everything.

Haven't tried 5a347 nor compared if there is a later release of iTunes 7.7 to see if they plugged a whole (if any).

For the moment I can't confirm until I upgrade and try it myself, and that will take a while (installed too many apps...)

If you update to 2.0 on iTunes 7.7 and you want to downgrade:
You MUST put it in DFU mode to restore to 1.1.4, RECOVERY mode WILL NOT work. The error above mentioned is because DFU was not enabled.
If 7.7 gives you trouble, try 7.6.2...
You will get error 1015. To kick it out of Restore mode, use Ziphone or iLiberty. You may have to install 1.1.4 twice to do so.
Use a BaseBand downgrader to restore it to the 1.1.4 BaseBand.
This worked for my 5a345 and should work for 5a347... if not I will update this post later.

ok so i just recently went to the att tilt for mms.. is it possible to still use my iphone with the unlimited pda plan i now have? if so, do you think if i updated my iphone it would work? or does it need the special iphone plan to activate?

I went to the Tilt as well, than i didnt like how sluggish it was so i went back to the iphone. In theory it should work except for your visual voicemail im guessing. But you should be able to still update it
