iPhones AUTOMATICALLY updated to include Send to Gallery option
In a surprising bit of Apple magic, after the keynote today, iPhones across the world have automatically been updated with the Send to Gallery menu option in the pictures. I checked during the announcement, and it wasn't there, and afterwards, it was... weird.
I wonder what other little surprises are hidden in the firmware of our iPhones?

Hasn't shown up on mine. Does it have to know if you have a .Mac account? I don't.

Pretty sure you have to have a .Mac account, yes.

You have to have the new iPhoto from iLife 08.

mine does not have the button. i have newest .mac and i have my .mac email address syncing with the iphone. no button for me. but i also happen to be on iphone1.0. Might that be it? or is it confirmed that one must have iphoto '08? cuz i only have '07
08-07-2007, 08:54 PM #14
Ah, yes, you also have to have the 1.0.1 update.

scary part is the silent update thing.
08-08-2007, 01:03 AM #16
yeah...that just stinks like windows auto update and all the havoc that it wreaks...at least apple has a pretty decent rep with this sorta thing. their only hold out onto the dark side is DRM on iTunes *thumbs down*

It's actually good news, cause with the silent update somewhat means they are ALLOWING mods/hacks to their phones as long as it doesn't cause them to LOSE money..
They could have locked the phone down from any sort of mods a loooong time ago..

I would bet that it wasn't an update, but rather a piece of code that was already in there and when you installed the new iLife it activated the option.
Also, is it worth buying the new iLife if I am just going to buy the new OSX when it comes out in a couple months? Won't the new iLife be in There?

I think its kind of cool that it doesnt add this button unless you have a .mac account and ilife '08. Don't get me wrong, I love apple but for me the $100 dollars a year isnt necessary and I didn't want to have a useless button on my iPhone.
