People dont seem to understand simple economics. Apple used share revenue with att for each person who signed a contract with ATT.
Now Apple got their money upfront from ATT. ATT will now lose money if you dont activate it with them and ride out your contract with them. ATT isnt in the business of losing money so they will do everything possible to discourage unlocking.
You might be able to import one but ATT isnt that bad that I need to spend double for Tmobile.

They dont have to unbox it, go look at your old iPhone box. it has ALL the phones info on it, serial number, IMEI, ICCID etc etc. (its on the bottom and is a sticker) they can activate it without opening it
How? apple is installing at&t kiosks in all apple stores for phone activation. You dont really have a choiceLast edited by rusty778; 06-09-2008 at 08:47 PM. Reason: .

Then why is the price discounted? If you can take it home and unlock it AT&T will lose big money. They will make sure you activate it with them. But your right will find out in a month or so intill then lets speculate. common sense dictates to me AT&T what there money, money ya ya there money, money ya ya. So will see in a month.

Fuc Apple and Fuc steve jobs if this is all true! Can't knock the hustle but he will be loosing money!
Like i said can't knock the hustle but Steve jobs will be losing lots and lots of money. Im sure after the first qtr of how crappy sells are due to the bullsh** he is doing he will sell them to anyone and not a contract.
Wasn't it like over 2 million iphones were unaccounted for due to either ppl just jailbreaking them and getting them unlocked?
I won't beleive it till july 11 and i sign on apple.com and it won't let me buy it without a contract!

They (AT&T) paid for how many units thats the question?
If they bought 4 million units for nationwide locations then that leaves millions of 3g iphones that are not owned by att to be sold by Apple.
Do you think apple has no rights to sell their own products?
c'mon use your head.
