There is no mention of a premium price which leads me to believe that $199/$299 is the premium.

There is no mention of a premium price because the concept doesn't exist. Since they are not selling the phone without a contract anywhere they don't need to tell you how much the phone originally is.

unfortunately its business, they cant just fork over all this money to apple without making that money back. When you unlock at&t just took a hit. I kind of expected them to protect their investment a little more

If you cancel within 30 days you are required to either return the phone or pay the full price of the phone (estimated anywhere between 399-499) + 175 account cancellation fee.

ATT is the one losing money if people unlock it now, not apple. They will do everything possible to prevent people from unlocking it.

And there are laws to protect consumers which means you have the right to purchase any product as is from when it leaves manufacturing. That means in box shrink-wrapped. They cannot unbox for you without your permission. That goes for any manufactured goods in the U.S.

They actually are most likely including this for getting the contacts off your old sim,also this "ejector tool" is just an ordinary paper clip.

For people that have existing iPhones that want to upgrade and put their SIM in it maybe?! The new firmware (at least beta 3 did) also has a SIM card reader in it (like iSIM) so people can take their existing SIM cards and transfer their #'s into it automatically.
