Mysterious Boxes in Australia. The New iPhone?

The friendly folks over at MacTalk have recieved a leaked photo of a mysterious box from one of their sources. Rumor has it that these boxes are winding up at resellers all over Australia. What could possibly be in the box? Of course the obvious assumption is the second generation iPhone.



notice the text on the mailing label:

SUBJECT TO TERMS OF NDA
DO NOT OPEN UNTIL TUESDAY JUNE 10TH, 2008

June 10th in Australia = June 9th here in the U.S. which is when we are expecting Steve Jobs to announce the 3g iPhone and open up the AppStore at WWDC.

Im not saying if its real or fake, I cannot tell but dont say the wording gives it away as being fake. Years ago when i was a Regional Manager for Game Stop that is how every one of our big releases would come. For example when Halo 2 came out, they shipped them in advance with the same type of wording. Some times it would be imprinted on the actual box, but this is quite common practice with electronics.

You can open a box whenever you would like I work for a big box store and deal with time sensitive releases all the time but you never know Aussie's might do it different so who knows till Monday right? =)

Like I said, at Game Stop at least, we weren't even allowed to open them, nor inventory them in our POS until the date specified. It was also to cut back on employees taking them as well. It would be at my discression whether or not to fire the MOD (manager on duty) if I went to a store and found the box was even the slightest bit tampered with. Game Retailers pay huge fines for selling products early

There has been a lot of reports in the national papers over the last 2 weeks (with no hint of a date) on how fantastic they are and that they are on the way to our shores.

Wonder what the price will be??

apple ships stuff as ACI, not Apple, so it's just someone trying to pull a fast one. They never put logos on shipping boxes, especially not something this secret.

We have the usual 'do not sell until x date' rubbish over at our place...we always open the boxes mind

but then again im not an Apple employee who has been made to sign a NDA
