VLC for iPhone

ZodTTD, creator of GBA, SNES, PSX, and OpenTTD emulators, has successfully ported VLC to the iPhone. VLC is a cross-platform media player which supports many formats - far more than the iPhone's built in media player does.
He's still working on some of the formats, but the beta is up and available to his donating beta testers. Expect a public release sometime in the next week.
VLC is a great step forward in media playback on the iPhone, be sure and toss a few bucks ZodTTD's way for all the work he's done. What is vlc4iphone capable of? At the moment it may be limited by only a small handfull of decoders, but soon that list will grow! It currently allows you to drag and drop the following popular media formats onto your iPhone/iPod Touch for playback: MPEG / MPG,AVI,MP3.
It also supports some lesser known media formats.
Soon it will play: FLAC,OGG
I am also researching playback of: VCD,DivX,WMA,WMV

Does this app enable a sort of "disk mode" on the iPhone to enable the "Drag & Drop" option for moving non-iTunes videos onto the iPhone? I don't have my iPhone on me right now, or I'd install it and try it out myself.

Holy crap that's cool. I was just thinking to myself how could it would be if we had a player that could multiple formats/codecs. I thought, 'Something like VLC would be nice.' Then I check here and viola! I'm excited. If he can get DivX and xvid support that would make converting movies moot.

wonder what he's gonna do when 2.0 official comes out later this month possibly.
hopefully the apps can easily be ported to the new firmwares, cuz what a waste of time it would be to work on apps right now if they become useless on the newer firmwares. maybe not right away but u know what i mean.
this guy is amazing tho, i love all his emulators and prolly wont even update to 2.0 lol, im jus curious bout developers stand point on this matter1.1.1>1.1.2>1.1.4>2.0>2.1>2.2>3.1>3.1.2 blackra1n'd

vlc4iPhone has been reviewed at iPhone Applications List - iPod Touch Applications.
