Interesting Directive to Local Dealers or At&t Agency stores
They're going to actually help people order the iPHone online from Apple.com and then try to upgrade them to a FamilyTalk plan once they're finished buying the iphone and setting up their new account.
It appears that Apple.com will do everything online as far as setting up the new account because the letter doesn't say anything about the initial account, but only advises the local dealer to try to sell the familytalk plans and accessories.

Oooh nice... I think that the funniest part is "I am interested in the new Apple iPhone" "..we don't carry iPhone... were you interested in a phone with DSL speed browsing, music, email functionality, or a combination of both?".

Yep, I was just in a local at&t store at lunchtime and said 'hey, got any iphones?' and two associates at once said June 29th, 6pm. That's all they knew, and nothing on the data plan requirements yet.
This store had the iphone poster in the front window.

Theyre insane if they actually think that a dealer is going to send any customers to COR for an iPhone, a good salesman wont let that happen

What's gonna happen when the independent dealers start telling the customers that mistakenly walked in hoping to buy an iPhone "Well, all the stores are sold out! I can make you a great deal on this BlackJack."?
