Save $100 by asking?

Folks at Consumerist are reporting an Apple employee told them

If they make it obvious that they're purchasing but are a little resistant to it being "too expensive" by about $100 - sales representatives can take off $100 off an order (as long as it's purchased through the standard consumer store).

Seems unlikely, but fits in with the cellular model of sales... who knows...

Uko... they're all protected, all locked. Like I said, every phone sold in the US by a carrier is locked. And the Apple ones are being sold through AT&T service.

Are you sure that phones from apple store will be sold like from AT&T?

So far the standard price seems to be $499.-4G & $599.-8G.

As a long time Cellular One-AT&T-Cingular-AT&T customer, maybe I can get the 8Gig iPhone for $499.

That would be way cool !

I'll even ask them to throw in the S/W & cable

They (Apple) might have a different promotional deal, but, yes, the service will be provided by AT&T.

Uko, I can guarantee you that all the iPhones will be locked. Until a 3rd party vendor figures out how to unlock them.

No, Apple is being paid a LOT by AT&T to make sure it is exclusive, which then in turn makes AT&T grow as well. Everybody wins, except us. But profit is the number one drive in business, obviously.

You'll get the cable in the box, and the software will be downloaded from Apple.com/iTunes.
