after trying it on mine, iTunes generated an error and made me do a full restore. (i only had ringtones)
i deleted the old firmware out of my phonedmg folder, and unpacked the new restore file. running jailbreak right now hoping it works.
edit: use the old restore file COMBINED with the new one.
seems to be working fine after adding the updated files to the old restore.Last edited by Criss; 08-01-2007 at 08:25 AM.

restore file
i know in the 10 steps to mod the iphone with jailbreak requires you to download "iPhone1,1_1.0_1A543a_Restore.ipsw". Since this update, do you have to download a new restore? Would this one take you back to 1.0 ir will it be 1.01 of the firmware?

Some other fixes may have been included as well, including Safari stability:

I don't understand -- don't you still have saved files of all of your mods?Last edited by Napoleon_PhoneApart; 08-01-2007 at 04:18 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

iPhone Ringtone Maker
Was the update supposed to knock out all custom ringtones? I used iphoneringtonemaker to add rings to my phone and did not lose them after the update... just curious if anyone else experienced that...

Anyone notice their "Visual Voicemail" changed? I click voicemail now and it calls voicesmail instead of visual.

For the visual voicemail, you just need to re-enter your password and it will go back to normal.

ifuntastic + iphoneinterface works
my stupid itunes had to restore it to the lame old interface BUT i got the themes back with these steps:
ifuntastic.. unlock + put to recover mode(./jailbreak) + ringtones(optional)
then i used terminal + ./iphoneinterface
next steps are the same as before..
bottom line is ./jailbreak didnt work for me like numerous times before but THRU ifuntastic IT DID!
for the voicemail problem... it dials the voicemail then prompts you for your password thru a pop up dialogue...
just enter your password and it should be back to normal.
jeeez you guys with those problems haven't even restored your phone using itunes before right!?!!

You dont have to download another version of jailbreak. Just use ifuntastics latest trlease- its the gui frontend with jailbreak and iphoneinterface in the backend!
Step 1 on my post is actually the first 3 steps on the ifuntastic interface.
After I put it I to recovery mode, I just used terminal and ./iphoneinterface to do the graphics mod. DO NOT CLOSE IFUNTASTIC
After everything is done EXIT TERMINAL.
Go back to ifuntastic and do the remaining steps.
THATS IT... Or at least how I did mine. =)

FIXES ipod device compatability!!
Yo, so I had the FM kensington transmitter for my ipod, didnt' work with iphone, after annoying airplane message, just played sound from the built-in speakers.. and it turned into my iphone charger.
Then, this morning I plugged it in again (after 1.01 update) and VOILA!! the damn thing works, I still get the message, but now the kensington device works like a champ and I enjoy full stereo sound!! This rocks!
Any other hidden bug-fixes??
