Are you crazy?!? The 1st Gen iPhone will always be a classic! I'm keepin' mine so I can switch the sim card inbetween phones. I'll pay retail price if that means I don't have to extend my contract. A two-year contract with no protection plan? Kill it. It's already hell keepin' up with the current one.

As far as i know AT&T they never give a descount when you sing for 2 years and customer were baying the iphones like hotcakes and sinnig a 2 years agriment. I don't thing they will change now when they are making the big buck! ;-0

I dont get SO big differences,I have GPS in a car-why do I need it on the iPhone? I have 8GB storage,(even I cant fill 6GB))),ok,they want me to pay 400-700$ for faster edge? LOL. No one is expecting you to buy a new iPhone every time they release a new one, it's your choice. I have a 16GB 1.1.4 iPhone and I'm very happy with it, I can't see it being reasonable for me to go out a blow $700 on such an upgrade. (Plus t-mobile only have 3G network in New York, and it's 'beta')

this is clearly a move to improve their sales in the european market. nothing more, nothing less.

cars here dont generally come with sat nav as standard, and every single other phone has 3g.

for once, i dont think this move is for the americans among us..... so don't buy one....

Did you always got a new coming Nokia phone or Samsung phone cheaper because you had an elder version?

I don't think so.
Sure i would love it as well to get it cheaper but lets face the truth, old Nokia N95 owners also got no discount when the new N95 with 8GB came out.

Yeah AT&T managers also told me the 2nd Gen iPhone was coming out in January of this year last November.
And that unlocked phones cant use the camera or internet.

He told me that the new 3g would be priced just like how the iPhones first were released. He said I was crazy for even considering that AT&T would allow a discount on a brand new iPhone. You heard the story about how Verizon wouldn't allow Steve Jobs control the priceing on the phone, what makes you think its any differnt with AT&T? and yeahh i dont think that managers would know this much information with over a month to go until the release.

doubt managers would have this info as i worked for ATT and my manager was never informed of price drop, in fact we found out day of the drop, and we saw it online, not even the district manager had any idea....
