try restoring the iphone with itunes again that should help, also this method was out for a while now since appsnap came out so it is not really new.....

Try hitting "0" again after you click "Install App Tapp" , then answer, then hold, then decline... it usually just needs to run in the contacts/keypad menu.

I activated and unlocked 4 iphones a day ago, it took ~30min tops for all of them.
About that part, do not touch the phone unless it reboots itself. During that process it will turn back to the normal globe unlock mode, then it will switch again to the mode with apple in the middle then it will reboot. it will take like 20-30 sec. I know it sounds confusing, but I'm trying to bring it back in my memories . Also all phones were connected to my PC but with no itunes and with ituneshelp process removed. So basically after appsnap did its job instead of the globe, the green battery appeared on the display.
The whole process went very straight forward and easy. Watch the movie thats on internet, it helps. Youtube works and all other applications.
I'm waiting for the 1.1.2 unlocking solution . Thanks and good luck to all who are working on that .

This is so cool, but if I use this guide, is it possible to revirginize my phone again?

  6. #26
Best and easiest method out there in my opinion. I'm running a really old circa 2001 iMac and it only had 1 USB thats a 1.1. Very slow and I could never get InDependence to run because the USB connection would time out.

Using this new computer-less method I had it activated and unlocked within 4 minutes.

    Great job!

Thanks PF a few questions remain

    First
Say I have 1.0.2 with the proper IMEI, 03.14.08_G Modem and unlocked with AnySim1.1 ia there still a need to virginise. Some guides say yes some say no can you clear that up.

    Second
Also, adding i.unlock.no as a source give the ability to download "The Virginizer" app what are the steps to do this for a NON 1.1.1 phone jailbroken and unlocked. Will running this app relock and re jail the phone but then allow a clean update to 1.1.1 whereby we can use the method you posted here.

    Third
Now that 1.1.2 is out what is the method to select 1.1.1 to upgrade to, I know old versions can be downladed but how do you get iTunes to select and use them. I've never seen that section explained fully. can someone do that. If its not possible due to modem firmware can that be explained fully.

Its my belief that if these three questions are fully answered then many people will know exactly how to proceed, should they choose to.

Many thanks for all the good work you and the other guys do on this site, if helped a lot of us new to the iphone to get up the learning curve.

joyce - after doing the virginize (I have a T-Mobile USA with 1.0.2), where do we go next in the "Activate/Jailbreak Guide" and
"Unlock Guide" in the first post of this thread? I have dl'd the 1.1.1 ispw file.

    TIA

    hey ya'll,

i was just wondering if anything would happen if you delete the contacts that you created during this process. say you unlocked the iphone through this method, and then after unlocked you deleted the contacts created for this process, will it stop your phone from working or in any way effect any part of the unlock (ie youtube, safari, etc)?

This is going to sound weird but i have unlock 5 iPhones so far and when i was trying to unlock the 5th it was´t connect to the power what make me realized that the iPhone HAS to be plug into the power or into the pc (iTunes shutted down) or jailbreak will not work.

It is necesary to make the Jailbreak steps with the iphone conected to the power outlet / computer with itunes shut down or not ? can work with the iphone alone without conecting to power outlet /computer ?

Also do i need From Installer application Install Comunity Sources, BSD, SSH or not ?

    This method is sick! Thanks!!!

pf, thanks for this. Just a few suggestions (correct me if I'm wrong):

    In this part:

Type *#307# and then press Call.

Now, delete (the bottom right button with the x in it and the arrow pointing left) the *#307#, and press 0. Then hit Call as it comes up, and the iPhone will display the Answer/Decline buttons. Hit Answer.

Press Hold, and when your phone starts ringing again, press Dismiss.
Does it really say Dismiss? I'm pretty sure you tap on Decline.

    Also, to simply things:

prefs://1F - you can simply type prefs:

    http://www.jailbreakme.com - you can just enter jailbreakme.com

Now, restart the iPhone and redo the following steps to get you to the Contact menu:
Slide to the emergency dial screen Type *#307# and then press Call. Now, delete (the bottom right button with the x in it and the arrow pointing left) the *#307#, and press 0.
You only do the *#307# the first time. In subsequent emergency calls, you can just dial 0.

Like the thread title says, no computer required.

Yes, in fact you should NOT be connected to iTunes while jailbreaking. You may optionally be connected to the power outlet but that is not required.

I believe BSD sub, SSH, etc. are installed for you by AppSnap.

Thankyou truenorth, do you think that apple store are carry v1.1.1 or v1.1.2 already ?

  20. #39
All iPhones released in Europe have 1.1.2. But in the US, I don't know. But only a few days after 1.1.1 was released, most iPhones were sold with the new software. So give it a few days and all iPhones - at least from Apple Stores - will definitely have 1.1.2.
