NBC Jailbreaks iPhones!
If you looked closely at last night's episode of Saturday Night Live during the iPhone: The Affair sketch, you may or may not have noticed a certain extra "Installer" icon next to the iTunes button. So what's that icon signify? The iPhone being used was Jailbroken (or, hacked for programs and games, in layman terms).
Maybe the hacked iPhone is just part of the joke. Maybe the hack makes for an simpler, more customizable production prop. Or maybe, since we knew Apple and NBC weren't getting along before, this is a not-so-subtle kick in the groin to a technology company struggling to consumers from hacking their product. Hit the jump for a bigger version.

LO-Freakin'-L! That's great stuff. And NBC has the faux-commercial on their SNL page STILL!
11-04-2007, 04:16 PM #14
So does this mean Apple will now go after NBC because of this commercial and its prominent use of the Apple logo, the image, and the iPhone name they displayed? Talk about tarnishing a product with this message they sent in this spoof. Let's not forget NBC just profited off the misuse of Apple trademarks more with that one airing than any hacker website ever will.
I bet Apple does nothing because NBC / GE's legal team probably dwarfs Apple's legal team. I guess they only come after defenseless websites.
I don't even want to hear anyone post about the fair use parody clause. How does fair use not apply to any hacker website?Hmm...
