I plan on staying with FIDO been with them since 96 - now that I am on the $7 unlimited surfing.. who cares that it is coming to rogers - besides I hate contracts so that is the reason I am with fido and have an unlocked phone....

If they're selling them in Canada, its probably going to be crazyyyy expensive with a 3 yr contract with rogers or something....I got my iPhone from the states for only $400 no contract and I'm currently using it canada. It should be interesting because about a month before they come out in Canada ppl will be like, "omg I'm getting an iPhone" and I'll be like..."So what? I've had one since like 9 months ago" lol.

Yeh that's all well and good that we will have it in Canada but the bad news is the price :P
Not only will it be like 500 or 600 in a Rogers dealer but also the monthly data rate will be like $100 for 25MB's..

Everyone and their mom is going to have an iPhone coming next year. It will definitely be a big seller for Christmas. I remember back in September when everyone was ooooing and ahhhing at my iPhone. Now its like meh, they are everywhere.
I hate to say this but after 9 months of owning an iPhone, I'm bored of it. I find myself now using any of the major applications anymore. Time for a HTC maybe? N95?

Upgrade what?
I would think that once the iPhone is out for Rogers, an unlock would not be necessary because there would be a firmware that recognizes Rogers SIM cards.
HOWEVER...
We might see two versions of the firmware for the two versions of iPhone, so the v1 phones might still be officially unsupported. This isn't a big deal, IMHO because the unlock process is pretty damn easy now and virtually danger-free.
The thing I'm excited the most about is the possibility of (relatively) cheaper data plans for wireless surfing. Right now, it's waaaay cost-prohibative to surf via Edge. Once the iPhone comes out, hopefully I can add on a data package that allows unlimited (or at least a GB) surfing.

I'm happy about 1 thing now. I can go into any apple store in canada and get sh*t for it without having to buy online and ship. I've heard rumer price's of $699 on a 3 year plan for a 16gig thats sh*tie.

Well seeing it is going to be the 2nd Gen iPhone that is released in Canada meaning a 3g phone you can bet on one thing I'm most likely not right on the prices their going to be much higher.
Gouging is what Teddy does best.
