Awesome instant Jailbreak for iPhone and iPod Touch

Wow... this is an incredible new development by hdm/metasploit, rezn, dinopio, drudge, kroo, pumpkin, davidc, dunham, and NerveGas both jailbreaks AND installs Installer.app on your 1.1.1 iPhone or your iPod Touch all in once click!

Its as easy as opening Safari on your iPhone/iPod Touch, and browse to jailbreakme.com. Thats it! Scroll down, and hit "Install AppSnapp". Safari should disappear, and pop you back to the Home screen. Wait patiently for a minute - don't touch anything til it pops you back to the Slide to Unlock screen.

Slide to unlock, and Installer.app will be installed on your iPhone/iPod Touch! You should prob install BSD Subsystem, Community Sources, and OpenSSH, and upgrade Installer.app if needed.

Erica Sadun from TUAW also refreshes the good tip that combining Open SSH and sshfs (part of Mac Fuse) allows you to drag and drop files to/from your iPod Touch/iPhone directly from Finder.

UPDATE (thanks, mofolo): It now picks up whether the phone is activated or not..and if it isn't it'll activate it for you!

If your already activated, it'll know and wont touch anything!

wow thats awesome, will have to try this on my friends phone (i keep putting off helping her lol)

does it still sync with itunes, i know some of the early 1.1.1 jailbreaks using safari left the phone unsyncable

omg.
it worked! I visited the link. hit install. it kicked me out of safari. it locked. then unlocked it, then installer was on there, and it works!

Ok, this sounds really great but i am just slightly confused. Say I have a brand new iPhone with 1.1.1, what are the steps to get this to work? I suppose i must first activate it somehow so i can get access to the home screen to be able to launch Safari and do the rest... Instructions for PC would be awesome.

Works!!

it kicked me out of safari.

I waited (wifi connection), nothing happened, maybe waited like 30 seconds. Then I opened it again.

kicked me out, waited like 10 seconds or so, then it locked. I Unlocked and HELLO INSTALLER! Yay!

Annnnnnd I'm trying this RIGHT NOW.... customize messed up my homescreen and I've been stuck at the Apple screen all day... perfect timing because I wasn't looking forward to jailbreaking back to 1.1.1 with vista(eww I know but its all I have with me at the moment) tonight.

I'm running a 1.0.2 iphone with app installed and a bunch of 3rd party apps? How do I get my phone running on 1.1.1 so I can use this site. If I update using itunes with my modded phone I'll brick it right?

I have a iPhone with 1.0.2 that I restored from 1.1.1 but has the newer modem firmware 04.01.13_G and want to upgrade to the 1.1.1. All I would like is to use the iPhone as my iPod reason is that it has the speaker, email, and camera. If I upgraded to the 1.1.1 again how can I activate without service so that I could install this through safari. Thanks for your help.

Just got done Syncing, and installer app is still on the phone.
So it does sync still.
The only problem is that Customize wont open, and Summerboard themes dont work. And Send Song opens then closes.
Any solutions anyone?

talk about a security HOLE ... visit a web site have a full app installed and running? mad props to the people who figured this out but i'm sure it will be patched quickly :-\
