i don't really know, but i have always been a firm beliver in updating all software to the newest version (if its hackable ). new versions usually come out for a reason, such as stability and new features. of course sometimes they are harmful, so always do research before you update if you have modded your phone

Is that "lose read-write" statement true? It seems to me that after you install BSD and SSH from installer then it should be able work with Transmit or Cyberduck, right?? How else would you get NES roms on there?

Also.. how do you recomend activating the phone with a previous ATT account (locked phone, just not iphone plan). I think i'm finally ready to upgrade to 1.1.1, but I need to know that i'll be able to get past activation!

yes you can restore to 111 and do this. I did.
unlock for t-mobile- I don't know

it kicked me out of safari.

I waited (wifi connection), nothing happened, maybe waited like 30 seconds. Then I opened it again.

kicked me out, waited like 10 seconds or so, then it locked. I Unlocked and HELLO INSTALLER! Yay!

If anyone has trouble with selecting a WiFi network before the screen times out, try this ol' trick.

Instead of creating just the contact with the jailbreakme.com url, first create one with

prefs://F1

Then create the

http://jailbreakme.com

Launch the prefs:// url first to let you take all the time you need to select a wifi network, as well as disable your autolock (which i recommend).
Then go ahead and launch the jailbreak link

Ok, this sounds really great but i am just slightly confused. Say I have a brand new iPhone with 1.1.1, what are the steps to get this to work? I suppose i must first activate it somehow so i can get access to the home screen to be able to launch Safari and do the rest... Instructions for PC would be awesome.

You have to have an activated iPhone, yes. Follow one of the guides in the guides section to do so.

I'm running a 1.0.2 iphone with app installed and a bunch of 3rd party apps? How do I get my phone running on 1.1.1 so I can use this site. If I update using itunes with my modded phone I'll brick it right?

Check the guides section, I created a "virginize 1.0.2 then upgrade" guide a few days ago.

my iphone is 1.1.1 and I downloaded the installer and nothing else, no packages or games just hit the button on jailbreakme.com...I am on At&t never unlocked it...If I restore my iPhone, will it be bricked? I want to get rid of the installer! Please help!
