But a real note, I believe it's going to be the 16GB version w/ added software which could also be addressed to current iPhones through a software/firmware upgrade.

I've always assumed that there would be some kind of new version by the end of the year. its probably not going to be a huge update, but rumors spreading always to create some big hype.

ok assumig that rogers here in canada DOES pick up the iphone in the new year...lets say Jan07. Would it really make sence for them to hype up such a new product, only to have a newer iphone 2.0 or whatever presumably 5x better come out out a few months later?

It makes sence in my head, but I think we can judge Rogers release of the iphone with the new release of the iphone if there is one on both sides.

correct me if im wrong but arent the iphones you are all holding now 3G capable... i remember seeing an e-mail from HIGH management that there is supposed a firmware update in november enabling the 3G in the phone. reason iphone wasnt released as 3G is the network wasnt strong enough... EDGE on the other hand everywhere.. this year ATT has rolled out 3G now they are making it stronger.. for example video share. now ATT has a gift for lagging really bad but pulling thru in the end at least as an employer... just my 2 cents

Apple cannot take the risk to get sued by 100's of consumers for releasing an upgrade so soon. Christmas is near, and people have Apple all over their wish list.

It would be a sour deal for the consumers to find and upgrade so soon after their Happy Holiday shopping.
