Change cycle with Apple is around 9 months average - and you can put CASH on there being a new iPhone in the spring.
They will still sell the old one at $299 and the new one, with GPS, video camera, etc. 32 gb of RAM will be $399.

If you think the iphone wont have a RAPID upgrade cycle then you arent paying attention - the iPod is fading (just a little) Apple could be selling 100 million iPhones a year in 3-5 years. The nano iPhone? Thats a certainty. Smaller, cheaper, 2 or 4 gb of RAM, small screen, phone and ipod only.
It WILL come.
This is NOT a computer co. anymore. Viva convergence baby!

The iPhone and the iPod will become one.

Next up: Apple must get more INTO the music biz - Indie low-cost production and exclusive release is where its at as the majors fail and fade, and the 'stars' become old and retire.....

i heard the newer and bigger GB IPHONE will be coming out in mid december or january and it will also have a lot more features. i have a freind at apple.

3G AND WIFI
Double speaker
MMS
Bluetooth that works with other Bluetooth devices
Character + message counter for SMS
Support all languages.

Hopefully we will see all that on the iPhone 5 ???

makes sense, its apple, they create a new model every year or less...and people keep buying them. Truth is that there are morons that have a stack of ipods because they keep buying the new version...but generally their new version does not have more features...or very few. Their trend is that they make a product with x number of features...then make that same product slimmer.....then make that same product have more storage....then make new product.

add Stereo Blutooth to the list and decent SMS abilities like forwarding and Send to many, They might know about software and music but they know very little about mobile phone must have's at least for the UK market IMHO

oh! and why cant we blutooth photo and SMS voice messages.

Yes it's actually still called RAM. What did you think was on the iPhone? You can't make ROM read/write. The 'not so' new hip term is Bubble Memory. Meaning it keeps the data in place even when the device is turned off.

I hope they upgrade from ATT to Verizon or even T-mobile. Now that those two companies know the strength of the iPhone. I've never had a drop call or bad signal with T-Mobile in LA county. Now, everything I look at my phone I see a No Service Indicator all the time with ATT.

But a real note, I believe it's going to be the 16GB version w/ added software which could also be addressed to current iPhones through a software/firmware upgrade.

A 32gb Iphone? You must be kidding.... Current prices for 32gb flash based memory devices are over $1000 for the drive alone.

Definitely not complaining. Just seems a little over the top for them to release a phone for $600 and in less than a year tell all their consumers it's now obsolete. Haven't seen too many other manufacturers do that. I've seen other manufacturers release totally different models like clockwork, but never the same model to replace one they just released.

I've always assumed that there would be some kind of new version by the end of the year. its probably not going to be a huge update, but rumors spreading always to create some big hype.

ok assumig that rogers here in canada DOES pick up the iphone in the new year...lets say Jan07. Would it really make sence for them to hype up such a new product, only to have a newer iphone 2.0 or whatever presumably 5x better come out out a few months later?

It makes sence in my head, but I think we can judge Rogers release of the iphone with the new release of the iphone if there is one on both sides.
