It worked perfectly ! Running 1.1.1 unlocked with anySim1.1 You just have to stick to it word by word.

here's hoping the dev team comes up with a one click method soon. and then maybe cash, if he was so inclined, could do a guide for the whole process, from virginizing , updating, jailbreaking and the whole thing. dang i wish it could all be in one app!! lol i do so love GUI's. =)

I am sorry if this question has been asked a million times, but it seems really hard to get a direct answer on here through everyone's conjecture.
SO..

If I have a NEW unused iphone running 1.1.1, never unlocked or activated, brand new. Can I just run Independence 1.24, then install Anysim 1.6 and unlock it?

Or do I have to downgrade, prep the phone, upgrade again and then run independence, etc...?

Again, Brand New 1.1.1

humm youu know i looked at me phone and when i go to settings>general>about and look at my IMEI # mine matches the one on the back of my phone. these are the ones that need to match right? i have unlocked with iunlock jailbroken and all the fun stuff. am still on version 1.0.2 and my modem firmware is 03.14.08_G.

does this mean that i don't need to virginize my phone? just thought i would ask =) maybe able to just go ahead with the upgrade. anyone know? thanks in advance.

No, you will need to jailbreak it first. then you can run anysim on it.

I am in the same situation. IMEI is the same at phone's back and at "About" screen. Modem id 03.14.08_G. Version 1.02 and unlocked.

What exactly should I do so I can upgrade to an unlock version 1.1.1?

You should do as I do, wait for the virginizer or try the method from post #1!

No, you will need to jailbreak it first. then you can run anysim on it.

Jailbreak using independence 1.2.4? My phone is already jailbroken and unlocked and modem firmware is 03.14.08_G and version 1.02. The IMEI at the back of the phone and at the "About" screen is exactly the same.

Can you please help on what I should do to upgrade to an unlocked version 1.1.1? Should I go thru the process of virginizing my phone?

Ok, first virginize your 102 iphone, then with independence do the pre 111 jailbreak then upgrade to 111 via itunes. then activate using independence and install anysim. run anysim to unlock.

If you want 1.1.1 on your iPhone then you have to virginize first. Otherwise you'll have an ibrick.
Just follow the instructions in post #1. But since you are a noob you should wait for an easy way to virginize.

Looks like some folks have figured it out. This method will allow you to restore your iphone to 1.0.2 with the correct IMEI #. What does this mean? It means you can restore your 1.0.2 unlocked iPhone then upgrade to 1.1.1 and unlock.
