Installer.app 3.0!
Posted by Ste.
“LG”, of Nullriver Software, just told me that he hopes to release Installer.app 3.0 shortly, perhaps as early as today. He just has one last piece to complete first. He says “The new installer is just so much better. [There’s] really no point keeping people on the old one anymore.”
I have been testing the new version for a while now. New features include, but aren’t limited to:
-Redesigned UI
-Collapsed groups on the Install page
-“Recents” category on the Install page, for “Today”, “Yesterday” and “Older”
-Ability to easily add/remove Sources
-Abilty to easily install all available updates
-A “Featured” page that currently is used as an info page
-“More Info” no longer opens Safari
This is SO awesome!
UPDATE: It's out!

awesome!
is this for post-jailbreak 1.1.1, or does it also do the jailbreak for you, like with 1.0.2?

Didn't think of that.
I'm sure it will eventually through AppTap.
But they might just be updated Installer.app
Hopefully it works with 1.0.2 and 1.1.1

I wish clicking on More Info would bring up a changelong, to see what the update actually does. Just might be nice without having to browse the internet for it.

I think this will work on 1.1.1, including installing from Mac OS X
This is a great program that seems to be rapidly improving. Come February when Steve releases official apps, what do you think will happen to this?
I think some people will continue with Installer.app, but most people will do it "the apple way", just because it will be simpler and less hassle with updates (not to mention better integrated with iphone hardware - think bluetooth apps etc)

This is great news! The only problem being that it's still not available. I have the patience and all, it's just so tantilizing that I kind of wish I heard about it after it was already available.

Waiting Patiently (or not so patiently)! I wonder if they will have an updated Summerboard since they are the same company. One can only hope.

Seems that they released it right now. Just installed a beta of it using the "old" Installer.app on my iPhone

Summerboard with the new installer
I upgraded Installer, and I wanted to install Summerboard, but it said my firmware had to be 1.1.1. I had 1.1.1, downgraded to 1.0.2, and unlocked it with IPSF, and now I can't install Summerboard. Will the phone not work if I upgrade to 1.1.1 at this point? I heard IPSF 6.0 works with 1.1.1, but I'm not sure that that means it will work to unlock it on 1.0.2 and then upgrade. Please advise. I want Summerboard to work so I can use pictures as my home screen wallpaper. If I can't upgrade to 1.1.1 is there another way to get Summerboard to work?

edit: nevermind. like most things, restarting fixed it.Last edited by claptrap; 10-19-2007 at 02:36 PM.

The new interface is CLEAN! You can't see how much space you have anymore tho, and it's showing some old-ish files as "new", but iono, maybe it's just showing the updates as recent.

Works great! The only problem I am having is trying to download some of the Summerboard themes and it says I have to install Summerboard first (which I did, I installed the latest version of Summberboard) so maybe some of the themes have to be updated to work with the new Summerboard?? I don't know, but all in all, AWESOME!
