Installer.app 3.0!

I just updated and now everytime I go into it, it will just put me back at home screen. I tried using ibrickr to uninstall it. but it wont uninstall...so I can't use the installer app now. anybody know what went wrong? I'm at 1.0.2 Thanks

so i had installer.app during 1.0.2 then i upgraded to 1.1.1
for installer 3.0 it says 1.1.1 is recommended but how do i get it? when i download apptapp the only available firmware options are 1.0 to 1.0.2, so what do i do?

Nice update, certainly a huge bump from earlier versions, if i can suggest a few inputs, here's what i think can be improved:

- collapsable groups not so well implemented, expecting something like apple online store's side panels, or like the recent call's animation?
- search/filter, hide/show things from the list
- speed, option to manually check for updates.

Sorry for the confusion.

I am currently running 1.0.2 with Installer 3.0 and it works fine.
1.1.1 is recommended for Installer 3.0, but works on both.
I was referring too the AppTapp program on a PC to jailbreak/install Installer.
It currently only jailbreaks 1.0.2 and install the old Installer.

You're safe to update to Installer 3.0

I'm using a jailbroken and unlocked 1.0.2 American iphone here in the UK and just updated the installer app on my phone.No probs at all apart from the load up time when you open installer is a little longer but only 20 or 30 seconds.

So if you are on 1.0.2 jailbroaken and unlocked,you shouldnt have any problems updating to installer 3.0

One question though for us 1.0.2 users.WHEN IS THERE LIKELY TO BE A ONE CLICK UPDATE TO 1.1.1 AVAILABLE? Are we talking days or weeks? Im happy enough with 1.0.2 but it would be nice to have the music store on my phone....

Can anyone just give me a straight answer and tell me if its ok to upgrade to 1.1.1 after I've already installed the new 3.0 installer? Will I lose it if I upgrade now?

you will need to reinstall it if you upgrade.

All I did was update Installer (I have an unlocked 1.0.2 with T-Mobile) and after it was done I lost all phone capabilities!! Let me know if you know what I can do (or how to restore factory settings without 1.1.1). Thanks!

now my iPhone doesnt even connect to my WiFi!!!

original problem: after updating to 3.0, the icon disappears from the home screen.

Installer app 2.63 has this ID: com.nullriver.iphone.Installer
The new Installer app 3.0 has this ID: com.apptapp.Installer
That would be the reason that it "could" move or disapear on your desktop / homescreen.

Do you have Summerboard and Customize, or another app launcher installed? You might could use those to browse the apps and see if "installer" got bumped down to a hidden area.

02589: I have launcher installed, and it does not list installer.app but it does continue to properly list all the other apps that I installed using installer.app

Having the same problem. Installer 3 worked for a few hours then after I tried to customize something with customize Installer started crashing. Then next time summer board restarted the icon was gone.

Im using an unlocked and jailbreaked 1.1.1 and theres no option to update in Installer to the new version... at all lol... it refreshes but no update comes what should I do?

Does the new installer app install app place apps in a different partition on the hard drive to allow more space, or does it still install in the same partition as the firmware?

To be honest, there are a ton of unknown variables, so I would hate to lead you down the wrong path. I find it hard to believe installer is not on your phone. Personally, I'd go to great lengths beyond the scope of this thread to find it. If that failed, I would probably try to reinstall Apptap as though it were an original installation. I don't know if this is right and I can't recommend it, but it's probably what I would do.


And since you are on 1.0.2, you do have a ton of options to go back and start over. Sure, it takes some time and you might have to read up on old news. OTOH, it might refresh yourself and give you a better understanding of the whole thing.
