    im pretty sure linux never atually made it to iDevices.. it almost did though.. but right now there is no way possible to get linux on iPod Touch or any iDevice for that matter

    It's possible for some very old devices (original iPhone, iPhone 3g, 1g Touch) but almost completely useless.

    More promising if you're just tired of iOS and want to try something new would be Android -
    Its a distant work-in-progress for 4g devices, but its already partially functional for the devs working on it.

    Most promising: learn Darwin. Understand it. Not so-very-different from Linux in most ways that matter.
    If what you really want is GTK, or X11- those will never really work on the iPhone/iPod display, linux or not.
