I'm not really into the whole Linux Iphone thing.. but I noticed a couple years ago that a company was developing a phone with open Linux software on it.

Perhaps the software can be used for Iphone purposes.... just a thought

It would be great if this could be ported to work on the iPhone! I've been following the project for a while and saw their demo at the CES 2008 show. The new phone they have out at mass market (available from their website) is the Neo Freerunner.

I think the OpenMoko software is pretty competitive with smartphones like the iPhone and Crackberrys but, unfortunately, I think they need more diverse hardware and something with a camera & video recorder to really drive them into the consumer market. The Neo Freerunner is perfect for IT workers and anyone in a position where they cannot have a camera phone at work for security purposes.
