Default How Do I Install iFile onto My Jailbroken iDivice
I have a Jailbroken iPod Touch 3g and i have internet access at my house but i dont have wifi. Ive tried drag dropping an iFile.deb file into the directory var/Mobile/Cydia/AutoInstall and rebooting the ipod but it dosnt install ifile. i dont have mobile terminal on my ipod. The only thing I have on my ipod is cydia but i dont have wifi. I cant think of another way of installing ifile onto my ipod other than the dragdropo onto Cydias autoinstall folder via iFunbox

Why can't you just install it through Cydia? It's on BigBoss repo, so no need to add any repos or anything, just pay the fee and install it.

Wifi is everywhere, McDonalds, Starbucks, most restaurants.....................

I know that. The reason i posted this thread was to find out why dragdropping a deb file into the var/Mobile/Cydia/AutoInstall directory isnt working. If theres no other way to do it with SSH then i guess ill walk down the street and use my neighbors wifi

If you already have the deb, download ifunbox and drag and drop to the cydia installation tab. Then reboot the device and thats it

    Have you tried MobileTerminal?

    And play nice.

EDIT: BTW, The correct directory is var/mobile/Media/Cydia/Autoinstall
    not var/mobile/Cydia/Autoinstall

People are skeptical to answer this question because the question is whether you paid for iFile or not. Having the .deb file kind of points to you downloading it online without purchasing it.

ANYWAY, given the benefit of the doubt, ReverseEffect has the right idea. Also ensure you're starting from root if you're going the SSH route.

You say you have an internet connection but dont have wifi...if you're on a vista/7 pc you can make an ad hoc network to connect your ipod to the internet, thats what I do.

Even with the paid deb it is still the trial. The only way to activate the paid version is with your cydia info or paypal info. Other than that it'd be the free/trial version.

Go to start->connect to-> set up a new connection or netowrk-> set up ad hoc network (or somethin like that)

Then follow the instructions. You have to change the password encryption to WEP and enable ICS

Please be nice on here, we're only trying to help you. As Annie said, we are skeptical whether you paid for this app or not as we do not condone piracy on here. If you didn't get it legit, then this is considered piracy and will be locked.

I apologies, I was having trouble finding the solution to my problem and in the process I became frustrated. I was able to connect to the Internet on my iPod using my broadband Internet. I appreciate the help offered by everyone.

Just do like I said above.
    Place your deb in var/mobile/Media/Cydia/Autoinstall.

Assuming you're using the trial version of iFile. (Or whatever software you plan on installing)
