Default OS 4.0 Restore or Check for Update?

I noticed that if I option-click Check for Update, it allows me to search for an ipsw just like option-click Restore button does. Is it safe to update to 4.0 this way or is the Restore method better?

I got my UDID added to a dev account and will attempt update later. Just thinking that the Update way would be faster but not sure if this is good idea considering it's beta. Has anyone tried?

    Thank you...

I did check for update, and mine has worked fine. Either way you have to select the ipsw.
