How I Can use my Dev. Program Program membership upgrade a 3gs w/ new 4.0 SDK firmware?

Yes you can. Be prepared for a tough time to go back down to 3.X when you go to 4. Also remember that the functions rely on the new API. You wont see apps that support multitasking in the App Store till its to the public so you are really not getting anything by going to 4.0 except a really buggy OS. Think of when 3.0 was previewed and there was no push apps out yet.

you have to make sure your devices UUID is added under your dev program membership and that it's licensed for development. once you do that, there will be a link on the dev program website, presumably later on today (i'm not sure since I don't have a membership). Once you click this link, which is a download of the iPhone3,1_(build number)_4.0.ispw (or something like that), it should begin downloading to your computer. then, go into iTunes, and option-click (or shift on windows) the restore button and browse to the ispw firmware file you just downloaded. If you correctly added your UUID and followed the necessary steps to license your 3GS, then iTunes should update your phone and activate it by itself.

tru, but i would still luv to try 4.0 plus they rlz new versions every other week so if someone is kind nuff to add my uuid to their dev account i would really appreciate it n all i want is multitaskin and folders...it looks pretty amaizin

no z...if you have ur UUID registered on a dev acct...you can dl and install the beta's ... thats what i am trying to do

When you download select "save as" then change file type to "all files" and change the extension to ipsw. Then download and it will be ipsw

use HFSExplorer to extract ispw from dmg in windows

it wont work if you try to update on windows...unless you need 9.1 itunes to do this

I have got a spot on a Dev list to run 4.0, but i need a link (not apple) that i can download the 4.0 software from as the guy i got the spot from said that i would need to find file myself.
