Weird charging issue?

Lately when I go to charge my iPhone it gets to around 95-98 (according to battery meter) and then it says it's full. The little plug icon appears indicating a full charge but the battery meter still only says 95 or whatever. If I leave it in longer it refuses to charge. I can usually get the full charge if I plug it into my computer though through an old iPod cable.

This phone is brand new. I activated it November 19, 2009. It's 32gb 3GS.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!



EDIT: It's also experiencing an unusually bad battery life. Do I need to replace?! It's brand freakin new...
