Touch screen input function

I was hoping someone could tell me if there is an OS function call that can be called that makes the iPhone OS think that the touch screen was tapped at a certain location on the screen?

I've had a bit of a look around for info on this but i couldn't find anything really.

Ideally I'd like to send touch screen input to the OS via the serial port.

If anyone has had any luck with this could you please let me know.
