Hi, hope somebody can help me, ive jailbroken my phone using blackrain and need to no how do i get custom sms tones onto the iphone ? ive done the ringtones as i found that to be easy, so any help appreciated i would be very greatful, ie what software i need, as ive have read so many diferent help instalations im getting confused !!! Thankyou and hope to hear soon from brian..
Ah.. this a whole other process to properly create sms tones. First you will want to download a SMS tone theme from Cydia as a template and transfer it to your desktop. After this you will need a program to chop up music files and then use a program such as Switch to code as a .caf file. Or find a program that will code to a .aiff file and then just change the extension to a .caf. After that's all said and done put the files in the template folder where they go and transfer back to the /var/stash/themes folder via DiskAid.
Hi and wow what a great explanation, i can understand that one, also how do i change my hidden file ext i within p-c and do i transfer that programme you mentioned from cydia to my laptop via diskaid ? just a bit confused on that one, ok i no how to create/edit mp3 tones/cut etc with an editor , its just the programme within cydia you mentioned, again many many thanks for your help and hopefully im nearly getting there..
Also any tips on which is the best SMS Tone Theme from within Cydia ?
Cheers from brian

OK.. *sigh*
1. Open Cydia... download ANY SMS tone theme.
2. Plug into your PC.
3. Open DiskAid
4. go to /private/var/stash/themes
5. copy the theme you just downloaded onto your desktop.... rename it to whatever you want.
6. Go to start.. my computer.. up in the tool bar go to Tools... Folder Options.. click on the view tab... uncheck the box for Hide file extensions for known file types.
7. Make your .mp3 or .wav file you want to use for the SMS tone.
8. Go to Switch - Download to download Switch freeware.
9. Use Switch to convert your file type to .caf (if possible) or to .aiff. If output is .aiff you will then rename the file and change the extension.
10. You will then use the exact same file names in the theme folder and replace them with the sound file. For example... i think the should all be received1 received2 received3... or something along those lines. You will rename your sms sound file to match.
11. Open diskaid.. copy your new theme back into /private/var/stash/themes.
12. Open Winterboard.. apply your theme. Test.
Wow Wow What another great explanation, sorry for being so new/dumb to this but this sms thing is new to me and i dont want it to beat me !!! well with thanks to your help, i will let you no how i get on and again many many thanks from brian
