Ever since I got my iPod Touch I've been having this problem. My Belkin router will be on, and I'll be on IE on my gateway laptop browsing the web, then I'll go into the safari app on my iPod and try to load a webpage. I don't know exactly how to explain my problem, but basically, the router crashes. The router will continue broadcasting signals, as both the pc and the ipod indicate I am connected, but webpages will not load. With 3rd party web browser apps for my ipod, such as bolt, this doesn't happen. And also, with a different router, such as a netgear, it also doesn't happen. Has anyone else had this problem with safari? If so, have you found a fix. It leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the programming of the mobilesafari app, something that causes a conflict between the router and the ipod and the pc on the same network. Also, when I attempt to load a webpage in safari, McAfee gives me a notification on the pc telling me that there is an IP Conflict with other machines on the network. Any feedback is appreciated.
it may not be a problem with the mobile Safari app. i think its your router. somehow when you try to open safari its opening port 80 and sending malformed packets to your router. or its requesting a TCP data session and it starts sending all data to a looped ip adress based on the information in the packets safari is sending to the router. Wireshark reports "Who has 192.168.1.2? tell 192.168.1.1" and you get into a loop when all data starts getting "back sent".
theres a few things you can try to fix this problem, first i would start safari and try to navigate to Google, close safari and open up settings in your iTouch and clear history, chache and cookies then reboot your touch. then go to your router and hold the reset button on the back for fifteen seconds. then reconfigure everything the way you had it but don't touch anything except your Wireless security settings (assuming this is a basic router connected to a cable or dsl modem unless you need your DSL modem to be configured with the router to use PPPoE) then reboot both the router and the modem. try that if it fails i would forward all connections on port 80 to your touch IP address.
