Default Add GoogleVoice SMS as an email account?

I recently requested an invite and was accepted to have a Google Voice account. On the website google.com/voice it lets me send/reply to messages that are send to my google number. I wanted to know if there was any way that I could have my google voice sms be just like an email account on my iPhone... like gmail for example.

Maybe I'm not getting what you want to do but if you have GV Mobile installed, you have an app with access to your SMS and the ability to read / write them. Why do you want the SMS as an email account? You also have access to GV through Safari. Just curious...

I would guess so he could get a notice without having to open the app, or go on Safari to be notified.

Yeah, makes sense. k then, go to Google Voice online, go to Settings, go to SMS and select forward SMS to my email then specify the email account(s) on your iPhone. That should do it.
    UPDATE:

You need to have your gmail account setup as an email account on the iPhone, I believe.

I do have my Gmail acc set up but to receive the forwarded SMS but what I wanted was a whole new email where I can send/receive just SMS. I guess what I can do is just forward it to a new email just for that.
