Revolutionary idea for iPod gaming.

I'm not an app developer myself but thought someone out there could do this.

I recently got the free app Eliminate from ngmoco. It's an amazing online deathmatch game. One small problem in my eyes: the ability to move and shoot at the same time effectively.

I was wondering if anyone could flip the screen so it's in Landscape left and then program the volume buttons to shoot and do something else. Automatic fire is the only comfortable way to play like that because of how hard you must press the button. But it seems possible to me. You could just add a volume bar on the pause menu or something.

Tell me what you think.

Got some views but that doesn't answer my question. Anybody out there?

i thought of this about 6 months ago and posted the idea on macrumors
turns out (just as I expected) that this isnt allowed/possible with the SDK
so if someone figures it out, itd be a jailbreak only thing

there were also an overwhelming number of "are you crazy, I dont want to wear out my volume buttons!" responses

shows you how insanely protective people are of their iphones over there

yeah macrumors has too many fanboys for my taste, they act like they arent going to either a) get a replacement a few times under warranty or b)get a new iPhone during the summer so who cares about the volume being worn, its there to use it.
