After GCC is Installed... Can't Make File?

I finally got GCC working and got my libraries and headers in the right place so now I can compile c++ and c programs with g++ and gcc respectively. I just installed make and transferred the ettercap source to my iphone but when I change to the directory and try to type make... it says no makefile found when there is clearly one there. I also typed ./configure and it stops when it says it can't execute the test exectuable. I know I can fix this by typing "lmod -S executableName" or whatever it was but the configure script doesn't know or do that with the test executable it produces...?? any ideas?
