Default What is the barrier for "Voice Control" on older iPhones?

Why is Voice Control only available on the 3GS? I can't imagine it being a hardware issue (plenty of App Store applications use the same technology), so what is the deal? Is it even possible to hope for a Cydia tweak to enable it?

I would imagine it has to do with the voice recognition software with the 3GS being run locally on the phone whereas the 3G apps have to use the internet to run the software.

Apparently Apple believes one of two things:

    1. The 3G would lag too much with the localization.
    2. Buy the 3GS if you want the feature.
