Having updated to beta 5.0 and using itunes 8.210b, you cannot add/install the carrier settings file.

Also, in the phone settings, the section showing the APN entry and the like is not visibile.

How come yours is visible ? What versions are you using ?

The documentation says to call Apple support, which I did, but they hadn't gotten it fixed for a couple of days, so I decided to ask AT&T to switch my data plan to the iPhone (I was on Blackberry Enterprise because I switch between the two) and it worked. Not sure if it applies to you, though.

OK, my problem solved.

I tried MANY different options. The last option worked (of course).

1. Removed latest version of iTunes. I believe it is 8.2b10
This version does not allow the updating of carrier file (.ipcc)
1a. Installed iTunes 8.2b7
2. Restored iPhone to 3.0 beta 5
3. Tested phone, Data Access did not work
4. Hooked up phone to itunes again
5. Did Shift-Update
Selected file ATT_US.icc (attached)
6. Clicked on Open
7. Settings updated
8. Rebooted phone (Power - Home until white apple on screen)
9. Went to Network settings and setup the right APN for AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

Viola !! Works like a charm. There is even tethering option. Not tested yet, bu appears for selection to enable.

Good luck.

I have the same problem, I've fixed eveything but the the 'No Data Network' error. There is no place to change APN settings. Can you please tell me what you did?

APN fix for me!

Google APN Changer! It's a web site that you visit with mobile safari that will allow you to make a new profile.

Best of luck!
Bryan.
