iPhone GPS turn-by-turn
anybody with any ideas when is this going to be out? I heard it will be somewhere in 2009.
Oh, another thing, is there any reliable GPS software for the iPhone 3G you would recommend?
Cheers...

Nope. Right now it still violates Apple's SDK rules. So, until they give in or release it themselves, we wont see it.
And Google Maps is basically it.

If Tomtom or anyone else releases it will likely not be a paid subscription....BUT....
Prolly a very expensive app. A map upgrade for a TomTom is $80.

I am using Sygic Mobile Maps - Australia & New Zealand, it is a really good app. What i love is that the maps are installed on the phone (with the app) which would be why the app is over 200 mb, but that means that when you are using the app it doesn't have to download any maps at all, this is a great application and i recommend it

ATT navigator is like 9.99 a month on your plan and the only turn by turn for US users I have seen.

Yeah, how come no options for US?
Not sure if allowed to ask this question, but can AT&T Navigator be cracked for use on a jailbroken iPhone?

Most turn by turn Nav systems these days use voice commands and give audio instructions. The iPhone has got an improved - but still weak - speaker phone, and lacks A2DP bluetooth, which may cripple the effectiveness of these voice guided GPS apps on the iPhone.

The worst thing about xGPS is that it uses Goggle Maps. I can't believe how how dated those are.
