Daemon on not-jailbreaked iPhone possible or not?

I need to run a daemon on iPhone... and without jailbraking it...
Yes, I know that this task looks like impossible according to official SDK docs.
But I still have a hope that there is some way...

Any ideas how to implement such a task?

Barring that, it may be possible to create a custom application that uses the same methods Mail or Safari use to run in the background.
