The only way I am aware of is to use the tel: URL protocol and openURL to launch a phone call. This will shut down your application and then re-launch it when the call ends.

Thanks, for your reply, can you please elaborate it, i.e which library to use, secondly i want to generate a DTMF tone while i am in a call, is it possible? and how?

I am trying to create an app too with the sdk. All I want is an icon(picture of the person) when pressed dials the number. I had this on 1.1.4 and below and cannot get anything to work on 2.0.
