Default how to add sources/repos manually???

Hi to all from Greece, I am new here and Ican tell that I need your help!

I have an iphone with problem at the screen. I have a dead strip in the middle of the screen, and as a result I cannot type the letters "q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o,p" and the numbers also. So it is impossible to add a source/repo through installer because I cannot touch the above letters that I ve mentioned.

My question is, is there any way to add a source/repo manually? I mean using winscp....

    Please help me,

    thanks!!!

If you add a file called "sources.list" to /etc/apt/sources.list.d
it will manually add sources to Cydia. In this file, you need the following text:

    Code:
deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
save this file as sources.list (NOT as .txt) and scp it to /etc/apt/sources.list.d this should work, if you're using cydia

I just tried this manually adding sources and works great! Saves me so much time from adding sources through the Cydia way and then waiting each time to refresh.

    Thanks!

    SSH into /etc/apt/source.list.d/Cydia.list

Open Cydia.list and manually add the sources you want just like mentioned before using this text.

deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
Save file and then you will notice in Cydia that the sources are added in the non-user added area.

    Happy holidays!

Huh... lol The Cydia.list file is where u save it. Just edit the file with the repo you want to manually add.
What u put is posted above in the comments.
deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
PC or Mac? PC CuteFTP (SSH) many more clients... or Mac I use CyberDuck, Terminal, Transmit (Very easy to use!)

    Hope this helps.

    Google

Search for the type of SSH client you want.

Secure Shell or SSH is a network protocol that allows data to be exchanged using a secure channel between two networked devices.[1] Used primarily on Linux and Unix based systems to access shell accounts, SSH was designed as a replacement for Telnet and other insecure remote shells, which send information, notably passwords, in plaintext, leaving them open for interception.[2] The encryption used by SSH provides confidentiality and integrity of data over an insecure network, such as the Internet.

I followed all the steps prescribed above and for some reason it refuses to work for me. After editing the cydia.list, I can see the newly added sources in the file after I respring/reboot, however, this is not evident in Cydia. Once I add a new source (into Cydia) and it completes the "Reloading Data" cycle, the sources disappear from the cydia.list.

These are the steps I take--
    1. SSH into /private/etc/apt/sources.list.d (via WinSCP)
    2. Edit-->Save-->Reload cydia.list following the format:
deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
deb http://<the url or IP of source>/ ./
    3. Reboot my iPod (3g, 3.1.2)
    4. Load Cydia

If someone could point out what I'm doing wrong and how to rectify my mistake, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help.

you can cut copy and paste those letters if you want save them in a notepad so you don't have to search around for them. Also you could use jollyFastVNC if you are on a mac and just type it in on your computer if you are on a pc then realVNC will work
