Safe to Give Out IMEI Number?
I recently sold my iPhone 4 on eBay and the buyer is asking for the IMEI number.
I want to make sure it is safe to give that out?
The phone is jailbroken and unlocked. I'm sure he wants to check whether it is actually unlocked or confirm it's not stolen, but I am not sure.
I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question than to you smart people!
Please help, thanks!iPhone 4 / 4.3.1 / redsn0w

It's probably safe for purposes of reassuring your buyer and completing the transaction. I wouldn't just shout it from the rooftops however.

I gave it to buyer and now I haven't heard anything back. I'm a bit nervous now. He was fast with replies before he had it. What can they do or lookup with old IMEI? If you look up an old IMEI should it show Yes as Activated? I looked it up and it shows as unlocked, but activated section says "yes"
Need advice please. Thanks!iPhone 4 / 4.3.1 / redsn0w

the new owner probably just wants some assurance that its unlocked before it arrives. i dont see what other uses the buyer may have with it.

Yeah sale went smoothly. I actually called AT&T and they said it's perfectly safe to give it out. They just want to check if it's not stolen and they can unlock it. Thanks for the info!
