I'm going to be making some adjustments to the widget picker UI.

As much as I don't want to change the UI style as it's cool, the truth of the matter is that it's too intensive for even current-gen devices.

As a result, I'm faced with a decision; do I change the live previews when choosing a widget into:

    1. A list with the widget name, and data about the widget such as author and package in Cydia.
    Or
    2. Keep the same styling, but request widget developers to include a Screenshot.png to display instead.

Personally, I'll prefer to go to (1), as it doesn't rely on developers to have to add something else to their widgets.

    Thoughts?

As much as I love option 1, if option 2 was to be more efficient then that's a strong case for option 2.

There's the possibility of being able to pull screenshots from Cydia depiction pages, which I can extend to non-default repos as needed. Perhaps integrating that into (1) will be best?

Funny thing is that I always take screen shots of all widgets when I DL them and put them in the main folder so I knew what it was easily.

I like a visual, Matt. Even a user addable one.. the names don't remind of the widget enough.

And I agree with you - the current implementation - as cool as it is - is so laggy and makes XH crash eventually trying to draw all the widgets.

Developer or User addable screenshot is the way to go in my opinion.

Maybe go to the list method with the little (i) but instead of relying on a screenshot to be included use the live preview when touching the i. So efficient list mode while still being able to call up a live preview of the widget you want by pressing the i.

Here's what I'm looking at currently:

Still need to implement the info button bit; I do like your suggestion Simon to be a full live widget preview there.

I've also just updated all remaining features of Xen HTML to iOS 10. All that remains for iOS 10 now is a warning regarding WebCycript and IS2 for widgets that need it (I'll do similar too for groovyAPI), and to fix janky-ness of widgets that have the capacity to be scrolled.

I've had a report though that Homescreen widgets no longer work on iOS 9. Can anyone else confirm this?

EDIT: Oh, and I just killed an issue with UIWebView that could crash on iOS 10.

Hello Matchstic you ingenious man you. Love XenHTML best tweak out there by far. I was wondering something and I'm not in anyway a computer guru. I'm literally live in XenHTML Great for applying stuff but even better for modding. So is there a way for XenHTML to have an app Icon? I don't know how hard that would be to do but I have to ask cause I'm me. Lol. Either way I thank you for such an amazing tweak.

With an app icon, how are you envisioning it; each widget being able to have an icon, or for the tweak itself in settings?

Right now, my changes to the widget picker UI allows a widget to have a Screenshot.png if they want, which gets displayed inline to the user.

Just the tweak itself sir. I'm extremely lazy lol. Instead of going through settings just tap and XenHTML. NO big deal either way you have done enough already.

Looks like some people are having issues with the new technique for clock hiding, so will implement a workaround. After that, I'd say we're about ready for purchases!
