Does anyone have a less pixelated gif for the birds only? I thought I may have seen someone with smoother birds? I'm not that talented to re-create it myself. 😬

Just practice, nothing to write home about,

I got a start at the new "Base Version" of the UniAW.
It will be an iWidget but will have the original Config.js file for easy conversion.
It is WidgetWeather with a call to AccuWeather for some extra stuff, so basically the same info as the native weather app.
It's going to take a while as I want to redo the clouds in 3D + a few other things, time is very limited atm.
I just wanted to get this out so tcm (or anybody optimising it) has the correct version & we all get on the same page.
If tcm (or anybody) wants to play, it basically the same base code (with a few small changes) as the WidgetWeather_LS version with the touch functions removed.
Although it will be an iWidget, all the wallpaper options will be left in their for easier conversions.
I will do a full screen (as normal) and a half screen version, for the half screen version I will redo all wallpaper options and animations to fit correctly.
I will also add a mask just so it's their for anyone wanting to change the shape of the widget.
I will also try to remember to add all the stuff we have seen requested here, like animations only switch, no animations switch which will activate the static current conditions icon, correct suffix for moon info & singleLineDate etc..
I guess I can also add the rainday script but this will only work on static backgrounds - i.e. not with the scrolling timed walls.
Don't hold your breath though, I'm afraid it's going to take a fair while to complete but at least Iv'e made a start and have a goal.
Thanks to all of you again for keeping this going with all your excellent mods.

Sounds amazing Ian. Thanks for all the work u put into this. Widgets wouldn't be the same without u.

If you really think that using WW only is the way forward, then I won't stop you. I think I have posted enough about it to tell you I don't really agree, but it's your project and your call. I'll just keep my multi-version engine version for myself and expand where needed. I'm sure I can implement any important changes myself. And no, I don't expect you to change your mind. Certainly not considering the amount of "thanks" your post got of people who obviously do agree.
It's true, it's not really necessary to have languages in separate files, but it does mean that only the data for the relevant language is loaded. In that end, that should mean that less memory is used. Besides, having one file per language is a great way to compare what is missing or even wrong in which language and that should make it easier to fix the various translations. And did you really LIKE the solution with all the switch statements? I didn't think it was very clear.
I understand you want to make it as clear as possible for mods, but having read the first 70-ish pages and everything from the release date of the ios7 jailbreak, it feels to me that most modders only make changes in very limited areas: Changing the location of elements, formatting element text, displaying or hiding elements and replacing graphics. Anything more complex usually results to questions on the forum, answered by those few people who can probably DREAM the code by now. Unless I'm very much mistaken I haven't changed a single line of code that would make any of that more difficult.
The weather js files optimization was the easiest of all. I just noticed that was hardly any difference between them. Of course getting rid of nearly 50% means that if you'd want to make something very specific for the ip4 or 5, you'd have to undo the changes. I thought that's a acceptable risk.
There are enough things I'd like to sink my teeth in, even without multiple engines. The DealWithWeather function is horribly long and, considering one syntax error breaks the WHOLE function, extremely annoying to debug. Ordering it by screen elements and splitting it into functions is (IMHO) a lot better. The UpdateClock does a million things that have nothing to do with the clock. And if you'd want to functionally change e.g. the way the balloons behave (I'd like to ) you'd be changing the same code in 7 or 8 places (that was even double before I made the 50% cut).
I'm not "wasting" my time, because I want to add some engines or combinations for personal use. Most of them great in local (dutch) weather, but not very or totaly not international. One is even from a purchased program, so I wouldn't want others to overload it and forcing the developers/owners of the network to take measures. Also I'd like to make some minor changes (you might like them), like displaying a proper 360 degree wind angle using a compass and displaying wind in m/s and Beaufort. Wind is very important to me as I like to use my bicycle to go to my work 12km away from home. And living on the coast, we have plenty of that here.
So, no, you haven't offended me. I'm glad I know what you want and I'd be happy to improve code where I think it can be.
No hard feelings.

I just had another look at what your doing, I think I will attempt to do something similar, but will have the weather.js like yours with a separate WidgetWeather.js & a separate (small) AccuWeather just for the extra stuff, now that I kinda study your code more the more I like it (told you this might happen )
BUT.. if I get stuck can I email you for help? I think I can get it ok but I might well get stuck as I will not just be using the WidgetWeather.js but also the AccuWeather one at the same time, is it possible with your code to use two sources at the same time? my heads spinning thinking about it all but it's sinking in that your methods make sense.
I'm going to scrap my current project and play more with your code.
I was also thinking about scrapping the location files as everybody uses GPS (I think).
Quick question, what is the advantage of this:
loadjscssfile("Main", "weather", "js");
rather than linking it in the html file as it must load every time, just curious.
PS, don't go by the number of thanks I get, everybody is very kind to me with their thanks buttons, I'm sure they press it even though I speak a lot of sh** sometimes

Ian, am I to maybe hope - from your start of UniAW7 - that you'd be also incorporating some of the ios7 weather.app animations too? Here to help if I can. If I can't, I know someone who can!

Tutorial - Add a SWITCH in Config,js to work with GroovyLock+ or all other players

@Ian, @iamevl, maybe I don't follow, but just to make sure, you do know that you can test day animations at night, right?....simply by changing the time in Phone Settings/General/Date and Time,
