I don't get the tone of hostility to those that don't want to use cydgets. I understand the benefits but I still have issues with it as an end user. LockHTML and Cydgets don't have to be mutually exclusive. Just let people use what they are comfortable with and not suggest they are in a box for not abandoning what they are comfortable with.

Some people responded this way when they choose not to use widget weather or other tweaks. They got mad at others trying to force it on them. That's my only point about cydgets. Not saying people are being condescending when dismissing others choice not to adopt cydgets but it definitely can come across that way. MJ this isn't directed at you, it's just been an observation on my part from some of the conversations I have had about lock screen platforms.

    Krima,
Never meant to be hostile. I was stating my reasons for my decision, my reasons for using Cydget, as well as providing an answer (a proven solution that I have tested to the extreme prior to saying anything regarding my findings) to the incessant whining coming from all directions about safe mode crashes, and making a point that everyone complains, regardless of what we do to appease them.

Some people simply cannot wrap their head around its capabilities, and to those, I suggest to do some research. I never said people HAVE to use a cydget. I said I'll be developing exclusively for it and a lot of coders are making the same move. So, it might be in everyone's best interest to read up on it, or be prepared to do their own conversions.

I understand MJ. To be honest, I really want to like cydgets and there are only about 2 things that annoy me about it. If these things get fixed and others start to develop for it, I'm onboard.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I was directing my comment at you. Emotions have been high with this jailbreak, on my part as well. Everyone should be able to express their preferences without fear of being put down for their choices. I just really meant that I think there is room for both platforms.

I think we would all be better off if we worked together in a more collaborative way. Ian really brought this point home and has been a turning point for me. I appreciated his point of view.

I agree a switch for that would be ideal. I don't like how cydgets just has it off and Saurik isn't even open to the idea of making a switch to leave them running should the user prefer them that way. Maybe Bushe or Groovycarrot would be more accommodating with a feature such as this. Saurik tends to want people to use and develop cydgets the way he thinks they should be, not they way his actual users want. Biggest reason why even though it is the most powerful of the LS platforms it is not the most popular, IMO anyway.

Those are my feelings as well. Even the option to have have multiple widgets to cycle through is very cool but without the option to retain the last selected widget is silly to me.

HTML + no passcode lock = no crashing

Agreed does cache not work with cydgets?

I'm probably wrong but I just think this is by design. I have no idea why though. Who is going to have multiple widgets without the ability to choose one and have it stick with a unlock. It's like buying a Ferrari and only driving it in the neighborhood.

My reasons for not preferring Cydgets are the same as Simon's and Krima's..

In the age old debate of Form versus Function. Saurik is a "function" guy it seems and most users are about Form.

Beta versus VHS in the 80's - same argument.

I believe Bushe and GroovyCarrot will both easily be able to incorporate the dual layer aspect in GroovyLock and LockHTML3. GC actually is attempting to leave the antiquated WebView on LS behind forever and develop HTML within Core Services. We'll see how that goes. When Jake talks my eyes roll back in my head. I'm just grateful for our devs and coders!!!
Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!

I like the idea of Cydgets and the ability to cycle through multiple Cydgets.

I use Cydgets and will always have it on my device. I've used Cydgets with the other lock screen platforms as well.

The only reason it's not my primary lockscreen platform is because LockHTML has grown on me due to the fact I do not have to respring my device when selecting a lock screen. It is also allows you to manage and maintain your lock screen and its elements. It manages notification placement, allows you to add or remove the camera, lock bar, slider, clock etc.

    Those are the primary reasons

But I have no issues with Cydgets and enjoy the concept of it. It is cool cycling through different lock widgets. I like the idea also because I can have a Cydget that is set to only show me my home town weather while my main lock or other Cydget is GPS. And you can change around the order an it works with an active winter board lock screen.

There are definitely cool aspects of Cydgets whether it's my top preference or not.

Btw, I just moved my gyroscope slideshow lockscreen (cydget version) to the background layer. Nothing on the front homepage layer. No passcode. Random respring took about 5 minutes to happen. Background layer is no more immune to real heavy animation (I don't think it gets heavier than a huge azz wallpaper moving around with the gyroscope) as the front homepage layer. Homepage layer may not like passcodes more but doesn't seem any more or less stable to me. Same lockscreen runs flawlessly on my iPhone 5 on 6.1 w/ winterboard.
I also have a feeling all of you that have restored and seeing improvements are going to find that is short lived. I think iOS 7 suffers "Windows Rot" a lot faster than any iOS before it and you will see your crashes slowly start to make their way back.

Chevy, "windows rot" is what occurs after you paid money for some " afternoon delight".

lmao, I wanna read that book for sure.

I think it can all be summed up with this iOS 7 = Windows Vista. Let's hope Apple pulls it together for iOS 8 as well as Microsoft did with Windows 7.

"...And the plot thickens..".. As I've said from the start. Nothing 'fixes' the WebView bugs in 7.0.4. You can 'alleviate' their affect - which is what Saurik's fix to Cydgets, MJ's and BombMom's layering code fix does - but you can't 'eliminate' this "Apple-born" bug's affect on stability on our Lockscreens.
I also have a feeling all of you that have restored and seeing improvements are going to find that is short lived. I think iOS 7 suffers "Windows Rot" a lot faster than any iOS before it and you will see your crashes slowly start to make their way back.
We'll see. I'm rock stable. Just to test your theory, Simon, since I think you have NOT restored since the WB update (you tell me..).. I want to try your Parallax Lock on my stable no passcode set up.. Wonder if it'll crash me.

Nope, no restore on my 5S. I did restore my iPod touch 5g last night though, setup as new and only installed lockthml, groovylock, iFile and a few of my fully enabled gyroscope lockscreens. 1st crash was under 5 minutes.
