Hey guys I'm just going to publicly clear the air here but apologise if this is quite brief, it's half 1 and I'm up early aha.

Simon has been a good friend of mine on MMi for a long time now and really appreciate what you have said, I have spoken to both June and Simon already so this is more of a public formality really to draw a line in the sand

June has given me some amazing promotion for NextGenUI over these last few weeks and I've had some much appreciated financial return from you guys (the iCommunity, thank you!) for my work which has been a good year total in development, which to be honest couldn't come sooner because university has put me in an awful financial position and coming to finish in the next few months I to be honest had no idea how I was going to be able to support myself.

June himself also relies heavily on the support that you guys give him for his work and so you can imagine that after iOS 7 came out the support has been pretty dead for all of us that do put a lot of work into this - the JuneScreen substrate (dylib) was quite obviously made for June as a thank you present for helping me out and to give him a chance to get himself also back on his feet financially, so yes it was his to market and I absolutely encourage supporting him because some people do invest much of their time into catering to you guys needs and the financial reward, that digital thank you, is what encourages us to carry on doing what we do In fact the circumstance of the iOS 7 jailbreak put a lot of developers off

Simon has supported me for a long time with this project, I can't stress how much that means to me and I think a few things just got lost in translation, I'm going to take responsibility because these last few days I've been working morning until night at university and haven't really taken much time to have particularly clear conversations

So just put this behind us and hopefully soon I will have a chance to put together a more open LS theming platform to give everyone else a chance to get back into the game

You are a stand up guy Jake. It wasn't that long ago that I was finishing up my college career and I couldn't imagine having to take time out of my day to answer emails and work on things that others have requested. I think you have been one of the most generous devs out there and I'm happy for all your recent success.

Can't believe this all started from you wanting to port your Dreamboard theme to the i5. Thanks Jake and handle your school work first, we will all be here when you free up.

I really appreciate the 'calm' way this debate proceeded. Everyone said their piece - and then everyone acknowledged how it could have come across. Groovy is grateful for everyone's support - and we the iCommunity sit on the precipice of a whole new way of theming. Ian, thank you too - for even opening up the idea of a way that we could package our CSS/JS/HTML widgets into apps for potential sale too.

Even though iOS7 has put to death many things we came to really want in theming -- it's also opened up new avenues of innovation.

    I think it's a good day in Jailbreak/Theme-land. Wouldn't ya say?!

And I echo Krima's comment, Jake. You're a really giving dude like Ian/Dacal, like Stephen (SDDev) and others that just want to see the community helped. Kudos, bro!

Now this isn't intended to rustle your Jimmy's, but you are the only one talking about selling widgets as apps, the potential far exceeds the scope of making money.

Edit: I'm gonna retract this statement because of Ian's post below, but leave it to be seen cause i do believe it exceeds the scope of profit.

    Hi Db,

The signing thing is a problem, you do need a paid dev account to get the keys, but if you search on youtube there are ways around it.

For a simple packaging you don't need a Mac, this video is not so good but has all the info.

Create a Mobile App in 30 Minutes! Getting Started with PhoneGap with PhoneGap Build - YouTube

The main thing is Apple will never authorise a widget that is constantly running in the background, so our widget becomes an app, you press an icon to open it, then you must close it again to use your phone, same way all apps work.
Maybe a JB device is different, I don't know!

So I guess the main reason for using this is you can start making apps for sale (or free) on iTunes Store without having to start from scratch learning a new coding language, I tried the UniAW6.4 LS in a simulator (as a SB app) and all touch functions etc still work fine!

If you search "PhoneGap" on youtube there are dozens of tuts, I also have it on my Mac built into Xcode so I can make and test things on my Mac without uploading to Adobe Phonegap Build, I really want to get into the tweak side but info is VERY limited, everybody keeps their things so secretive, can't find any cydia template anywhere and have never seen anyone share a complete project file.

The PhoneGap site itself has also loads of info on it.

There is a SDK I have for Xcode that I can now start a project in Xcode with some sort of cydia tweak template but as of now I'm not good enough to use them.

    @ GroovyCarrot & June'sIphone,

Sorry I don't really know much about this elusive .dylib file LOL.. but would like to ask if it's specific to your theme June? Is there a possibility we can get one to use with other LS themes? & how?

Sorry for the noob questions, but you guys know everybody is wanting our lock screens back in IOS7!

Thanks to you both for your extreme knowledge with these sort of things, there ain't many like youzz.

Is a launch daemon something that would be able to achieve this? (Limiting the use to jailbroken devices) for example, mail, phone, and IIRC messages auto-launch every time. So it's possible, however I'm not sure if a launch daemon has anything to do with it.

Ohh also just remembered this, there was a tweak that allowed people to make changes via code in apps (FLEX I think!!) on ios6. It didn't gain much momentum or a community because it required coding knowledge or paying for access to a cloud service. That could be pretty revealing!

    I may have found a lead... :-)

My friend, I have absolutely no idea what that is LOL.. honestly I never looked at anything like this before a couple of days ago, I'm sure I will learn more in the coming months.

I had FLEX when I was in IOS6, but only for a month or so, didn't really get a chance to fully play with it. I tried it after I jailbroke IOS7 but you're right, it doesn't work anymore.

Hmmmm. Well never thought of this. Of course.. An app must open and close.. Okay.. I have to admit this lets the wind out of my sails pretty much totally.. Maybe as I learn more my excitement will come back. But pretty much our 'whole world' here is about things 'always on' on our screens. You're right. And app will never be approved as 'always on'. But maybe that doesn't mean Cydia won't allow it. Maybe they'll allow it.

    Where there's a will.......

Here is the new list of all the apps which can run in background.

Apps that play audible content to the user while in the background, such as a music player app
Apps that record audio content while in the background.
Apps that keep users informed of their location at all times, such as a navigation app
Apps that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Apps that need to download and process new content regularly
Apps that receive regular updates from external accessories

You can declare app's supported background tasks in Info.plist using X Code 5+. For eg. adding UIBackgroundModes key to your app’s Info.plist file and adding a value of 'fetch' to the array allows your app to regularly download and processes small amounts of content from the network. You can do the same in the 'capabilities' tab of Application properties in XCode 5

Download Icleaner pro from this repo: http://exile90software.com/cydia/beta/ it lets you toggle launch daemons and what I've messed with ive done it safely in Icleaner, also check out my post I added a few links.

Flex has been updated to Flex 2. It's still in beta but free for all to test. It actually is a lot better now and works very well on iOS 6 and 7.

    Thanks Ian
I'll look at the video. Still I'd rather have a Mac and a Dev account myself than play with workarounds.
Just not in the budget for a while. May take the opportunity to mess with droid as well.

    Good morning Gents,

One night sleep and a good discussion here.
We are ONE community of modders, coders and jailbreakers with the goal to make our devices nicer. So please work closely TOGETHER.

To say it CLEARLY this was MY post and NOT June's post so it was MY FAULT not June's one. I did mention Groovycarrot - not by name only by "author of NextGenUI", Sorry for that Groovycarrot.

June clearly said that Groovycarrot helped him out with dylib (e.g. on Twitter). You can follow it up if you like.

Please do me a favor - and put the fault on my table, end this discussion and continue to make our devices nicer.
