Thanks - but they were the first places I consulted before asking my question here. We've had that list for a few years.. But we see so many many more distinct weather descriptions from the feed than that list represents. We need an updated list. We have 5 codes designated "thunderstorm". And 3 for "showers" and none for "rain". That list can't be accurate anymore.
Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!

The list I posted is from the yahoo developers site. If they got a different one, then they are keeping it hidden for some reason.

Look in the translations for you weather descriptions, I believe the 48 codes are the same but maybe they add some new descriptions only. For English users it's not an issue but other languages should get the new descriptions added.

They are.. Obviously.. 5 non-descript 'codes' all labeled thunderstorm?? And none labeled Rain?? -- makes no sense. Thanks for trying. I'll keep hunting..

Yeah - I knew that the codes 1-48 wouldn't change - but the descriptions corresponding to each # 1-48 are way more unique per code in the what the mods display.. I thought it was the feed itself that simply sent us 'text' through jSON. I just want to know what 'description' text (light rain, e.g.) corresponds to what code number -- and then update the description list given in all our weather mods to something more distinct.

    Grant,

I'm not sure what the problem is, if indeed there is one?
There is no English translation, the English descriptions come straight from Yahoo, when we see a new one we add it to the other languages.

It doesn't really matter what description is in that list of 49 codes, Yahoo just uses the numbers, the description next to it is just for rough reference, this is not a list of Yahoo's weather condition descriptions. There are usually multiple descriptions assigned to a single code.
The 5 thunderstorm descriptions you are referring to is us telling Yahoo if weather description code is 37, 38, 39...etc then show thunderstorm animation from the UniAW.

This is the reason we don't use the same method for translating the AccuWeather version, we don't yet know all the weather descriptions AccuWeather uses.

They're all different condition numbers in the 1-48 - and yet they're not listed anywhere. Where can we find which code number corresponds to the actual text we see in our widgets?
    yesterday. I had "Kinda Sunny"

Yahoo treats us hard here in Bermuda. Only ever get partly cloudy, rain or thunderstorm. Barely a cloud in the sky today and yahoo still wouldn't give me a clear or fair. Oh well lol.

so since you have failed to comply with these term, you must cease and desist all visual stimulation of said balloons by right and decread of the king. Fuckerpuck the great.

Yeah - that's the conclusion I came to after reading more of the code.. The 'actual' words describing the condition come down the feed - ALONG WITH - a condition number. You let the 'description' be seen as text in the widgets and you let the condition number control which animation is used. But Yahoo still only uses certain condition codes for certain 'description words'. I'd just like to know what codes correspond to what 'description' innerHTML names..

    Thanks, Ian! Still learning daily..

Grant, sometimes you just have to ask rather than jumping to your own conclusions, some of your comments (see below) just confuse newer users. I feel this is why some people get upset with you sometimes, my friendly advise to you is try not to assume (or sound like) you are always correct, ask questions your unsure about without any assumptions.

Also who posted the mod with the Chinese lanterns and fireflies at night instead of balloons and dandelion. Id love to get ahold of those mods :-) Again i love this thread and this widget. Please keep up the amazing work everyone!

**edit - im asking for more animation because arizona has one weather condition during the summer "fair" and temps 100+ (122 today, PHEW!) just wanted to explain :-)

I got my girl a stuffed animal. Best name I had in a split second was fuckerpuck. Then got her another one. To keep up I named it snoggle puss.

I don't do well under pressure.

A side note. I made chicken wings last night. Had a few flavors. I ask my 12 year old daughter "babe what kind of chicken wings do you want?" And her reply "um, the meat kind".

Apparently there's a flock of chickens that are of just bone and feather.

I could not help but to laugh.

And lastly. I have a 2 year old grandson. He's potty training.
So he goes into kitchen and pulls diaper off and pees on floor.. Then goes gets a baby wipe and cleans it.

What in gods name do you say to that? Bad bah... What the hell????

And when he squats to crap in the kitchen I'm just gonna walk out and slide the wipes to him.
