Added download link. Anyone testing on a 4S let me know how it goes, I have a feeling it won't be very well lol. i5 side should be all good. Has a little slow down when touching screen for the blurred weather wall to pop up but it isn't bad at all now using MJ's walls.
All credits same as usual, Ian, Dacal et al. Special thanks to MJ for all the fantastic walls from her collection.

I tried this earlier on my i5 and it didn't make any difference hiding the overflow. Just tried it on my i4 and still unusable. The only thing that will help performance I believe is cropping the wall to a smaller size. So instead of 1920x1080 I could do 1400X1080. I just did a quick test with those size walls on my i5 and it did make a difference that I could see. I am guessing even if overflow is hidden it is still applying the blur to the whole image which is where we have the slowdown happening. I'm not sure how to just apply the blur to what's on screen and not what's off. I haven't tried using a mask yet though like you suggested before. May give that a go tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.

Why not pause the scroll when the blur is showing?

It's not actually the scroll causing the slowdown (at least I don't think it is). It's the blur effect being applied to the larger than normal wall used.

Simon is choppy your right. You have everything as blurry class on touch and that makes it choppy I comment out everything that is not in use that had blurry class activated on touch and it was a really smoother. Maybe don't blur out animation elements...but I will test more tomorrow bud have a good day/night

Also choppy here my suggestion (may be a good one :-D) a transparent png that is set to appear in its own fullscreen container that has blur applied to the container, (dont know if the png is necessary). But make the container sit above everything on the z index (except for weather info and clock) that should speed it up immensely. I didnt do what Chevy did and comment out the JS but i knew as soon as i looked at it that using blur on all those individual items is the culprit

What about on slideshow, shouldn't be any animations on that.
It will run smoother with the animations not blurred in the times walls and weather walls, but it just looks odd to just blur the wallpaper. There gotta be a way to blur everything without all the slowdown. Gonna try a mask today and see what happens.

That won't blur anything behind it though I don't think.

So for anybody that's interested, here is a link to a video I just did of probably one of the easiest ways to remove the sky that has clouds from an image using PhotoShop, it really depends on the contrast between land and sky which method we use, in this video you probably already know the routine but some may not so hope it is of some use to some of you.

This particular one only took 12 minutes to do as it's not too complicated, other images might require different more advanced techniques but would take too long to explain and the video would be too big to upload!

Sorry it is about 320mb for a 12 minute video, but I wanted it crystal clear for you all.

Please note I took the hard way on purpose just to show you, in this particular photo it is a lot easier to select the sky rather than the land.

You can download the video HERE

You can download the original photo I started with (incase you want to follow along) HERE
